The best speaker?

I am often asked what the best speaker is. While not wishing to kill the conversation by going into a downward spiral of what would seem like a lengthy and perhaps evasive response, I am forced to explain that “the best” depends on the listener.

Does the listener care to nurture a typical turntable in ways that would make a spouse feel emotionally threatened or is frugal practicality more desirable? Someone seeking a simpler life experience could easily find a typical portable MP3 player to be sufficient as a source of musical fidelity.

Meanwhile, those preferring a more tactful and intimate relationship with their audio equipment will surely opt to continue to engage in the perpetual dance of ever attempting to reach emotional nirvana by constantly and progressively improving their sound system.

Both of these scenarios have very little to do with sound and all to do with personal preferences; yet both are very important characteristics of what transforms a listening experience from good to the best ever.

As speaker designers, our aim is to develop products that will propel our customers’ audition sessions beyond their expectations. We wish to be able to do this every single time. This means that a Luna customer, purchasing a startup model and hoping to simply fill a room with ambient sound, should find herself emotionally engaged after unintentionally listening to her favorite music through our speakers. To us, these are moments in time worth freezing.
Perhaps this desire to overachieve explains why many of our faithful clients use our unobtrusive wall models as their main front, center and rear speakers as essential components of their increasingly complex home theater systems.

Despite not costing the equivalent to putting a child through college, Luna speakers just sound awesome.
